Best Portable Cinema Setup to Watch the Lions Rugby 2017

Best Portable Cinema Setup to Watch the Lions Rugby 2017

UPDATE: 4th December 2017

The Philips Screeneo 2 (HDP2510) is out of stock across UK & Europe until 2018. If you would like to consider other alternatives to the Philips Screeneo 2.0 HDP2510 please see this article.

If you're planning on watching the Lions tour then why not get closer to the action with these two great portable home cinema setups that can be moved anywhere you like, even the garden.

If you're looking for great sound, impressive visuals and an enormous size image with a simple setup then take a look at the Philips Screeneo 2 and the new Pico Genie M550 Plus with Android 4.4.4.

This season the Lions matches are only broadcast on Sky Sports rather than terrestrial TV so you can use SkyGo anywhere or hookup to your skybox via HDMI. To find out more about the wired or wireless options see below and the best option to watch the Lions Tour on the big screen from June 3rd to 8th July.

Great sound is important for the match too and so the built in 26w speakers of the Philips Screeneo 2 are as good as it gets and even rival a set of Bose Home cinema speakers so they really make you feel like you are actually at the game.

Alternatively you can listen on the radio via talksport or connect the even more portable Pico Genie M550 Plus to external speakers via bluetooth to get great sound mixed with that huge screen.

Connect your Tablet, Phone or Laptop to the Projector with SkyGo

Wired Connections

There are multiple options for connecting Sky or Skygo to the projector from your laptop including via HDMI (newer laptops), VGA (older laptops) and even AV (RCA red, white, yellow) connections. Ideally for the best image quality its best to connect via HDMI

  1. Login to www.skygo.com on your laptop
  2. Connect your laptop to the projector (HDMI, VGA, AV cables)
  3. Select the input source on the projector (some projectors do this automatically eg Pico Genie P100)
  4. Change the output mode on your laptop to output via HDMI (also automatic on some projectors)

Tip: Connect to a surround sound system to enjoy TV and movies in true cinematic style. Connect directly from the projector with a 3.5mm AUX cable or connect via your laptop (wired or wirelessly).

SkyGo Wireless options

Unfortunately Sky have blocked wireless connectivity via portable devices such as DLNA, miracast and we’ve even heard Apple TV has problems with wireless connection in this way so the only real stable option is to connect via HDMI, VGA or AV.
