Review: Philips Screeneo 2.0 HDP2510 Full HD Home Cinema Projector

Review: Philips Screeneo 2.0 HDP2510 Full HD Home Cinema Projector

Looking for a complete Home Cinema experience?

When it comes to home cinema the Philips Screeneo 2.0 HDP2510 is certainly a top of the range product.

At 2000 ANSI Lumens and with a 200,000:1 contrast ratio, this short throw projector boasts a lamp life of 10,000 hours, capable of giving you a 50” image when only 10cm from the wall, increasing to 120” at 42cm. The full HD resolution is projected from the bottom through an angled window, and the Dolby 2.1 inbuilt sound system adds a real cinema feel, as sound is thrown across the room. Its versatility also allows it to be used to stream music from smartphones and tablets.

Although the HD2510 weighs in at 8.5kg it is portable, and its bucket like appearance, smooth rounded contours and subdued colours allow it to blend in with any style of house décor. Packed with features, this projector offers HDMI, USB, VGA, Bluetooth, headphone port, audio input and output, and it is compatible with 3D glasses, which are however not supplied.

The incredible range of tones and colours produced create the high definition images and clear pictures desired. This complemented by Cinema Lamp and Daylight modes the use of which is certainly advised. The impressive Wall Colour Correction option neutralises any wall décor meaning that the picture can be projected on to any wall without the overall image quality being affected.

There are a couple of down sides, namely that the Vertical zooms is manual, which can be rather tricky specially when using a screen as backdrop rather than a wall. Furthermore the Motorised Focus Adjustment is very slow and imprecise, and about as noisy as a steam train. The remote is typically bland and the keys require some coaxing

All in all the positives outweigh the negatives by a long way and make the Philips Screeneo 2.0 HD2510 short throw projector a very desirable addition to any household. Taking up much less space than any TV, yet projecting perfect images, this highly innovative home cinema projector is modestly priced at around £1,999 RRP.

It was also highly rated, 4/5 by Trusted Reviews, the specialist review site: "The Screeneo 2.0 outperforms expectations on every front to deliver an innovative and genuinely effective big-screen solution for home-cinema fans.”
