Viewsonic have worked closely with Xbox and acquired the rare status of Designed For Xbox certified which gives you a few advantages when using a Viewsonic projector with an Xbox.
To acquire the certificate, Microsoft Xbox carry out 70 vigorous tests to ensure the best performance across key areas such as:
- HDMI protocol – supported resolutions
- Colour Depth
- Display Modes
- Video Quality
- Performance – response times
- And many many more
So what’s the difference between Viewsonic and a normal Xbox projector?
1440p / 120Hz
4K gaming is great but can take up a lot storage so 1440p / 18.58Gbps resolution and timing is often the next best choice which most non certified projectors cant offer because they only offer either 1080p or 4K (UHD) rather than 1440p.
So if your projector display doesn’t support 1440p timing, the projected image quality will not perform as well and you have to compromise with just 1080p image quality.
Viewsonic’s, Designed for XBOX models, can support 1440p for either XBOX games or PS games with 1440p resolution.
The timing chart below shows the resolution, aspect ratios and refresh rates of the different signals via HDMI or USB with 1440p offering 1 step down from 4k with 2560 x 1440 resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio and 60 / 120 refresh rate.
More Direct Control
With CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) for Xbox you can use your Xbox remote to control various functions on the projector scu has power on/off, volume and mute. You can select HMDI / USB C and it will auto turn on the HDMI or USB C signal fed through to the HDMI USC C.
