A Glimpse into the future with glasses free 3D display
- 20 Aug, 2013
USC have used 72 pico projectors to create a glasses-free 3D display that gives you a different perspective on the 3D image depending on where you are in relation to the projection.
This autostereoscopic projector array has been created and optimised to show 3D faces and is part of a project at USC to immortalise the testimonies of Holocaust survivors. They hope to be able to record video in 3D and combine that with voice recognition to create interactive holograms. In years to come you would be able to ask questions to the hologram and it would play back the most relevant video clip to answer. An excellent idea with many more potential uses for education and leisure
